ביוגרפיה
המוזיקה הקלאסית הייתה תמיד בחזית של אלי, והשפיעה עליו כבר מגיל צעיר והציבה אותו על דרך מוזיקלית שהגיעה לשיאה בכך שמאסטרו אלי ג’פה היה המנצח היהודי הנודע ביותר ברחבי העולם.
נולד וגדל בירושלים, אלי סיים את לימודיו בהצטיינות באקדמיה לרובין בירושלים וקיבל את תעודת האמן שלו.
אלי זכתה לכבוד שקיבלה את פרס ארנסט ריד על הניצוח מהאקדמיה המלכותית למוזיקה בלונדון, כמו גם את פרס אדית דה פיליפ לניצוח האופרה.
בירושלים הייתה לו גם ההזדמנות לקבל שכר לימוד מליאונרד ברנשטיין ואיגור מרקביץ ‘.
בשנת 1986 הקים אלי את בית הספר לחזנות הראשון בירושלים.

מוזיקה יהודית
אלי יפה הייתה הראשונה בדורנו שהקימה בתי ספר לחזנות בישראל. רבים מבני החזנים המובילים בארבעים השנים האחרונות צמחו מבתי ספר אלה. בוגרי בית הספר שהקים אלי, מופיעים כעת באופן קבוע בכל רחבי הארץ ובעולם ומשרתים קהילות יהודיות רבות מכל הזיקות כשליחי ציבור בין קהילותיהם.
אלי יפה הוא מרצה מבוקש בתחום המוסיקה היהודית הליטורגית בישראל ומחוצה לה. הוא יזם את פסטיבל “הללויה” בקיבוץ לביא בחסות משרד החינוך והתרבות בנושא התפילה. ג’פה נחשב למחנך ומורה מן השורה הראשונה בעולם המוזיקה היהודית, הנוגע לניסוח נכון ולניסוח התפילה.
